Pandemic Protection Backpack

This is a university lead project; Final Major University Project. The challenge was to be self-sufficient and create your own brief then achieve it – be ambitious. I set the brief of showing what the world would look like if the pandemic was never-ending.

In the real world, everyone’s solution is to utilise technology. If you have a question then ask Alexa. If you are lost then use Google Maps. If you are in a global epidemic then wear your own Pandemic Protection Backpack (PPB). My solution includes a guide to the PPB as well as public reminders to wear and restock the backpack.

The concept was based on the idea of critical and speculative design as well as design fiction. Through using what was around me – lockdown, a pandemic, isolation – I became inspired to design new technology to manage the day to day activities in this new world.
