Editorial

A Graphic Communications challenge to create an editorial of the 8000-word dissertation. The brief was to design one cover and several double-page spreads in a style influenced by our own dissertation.

My dissertation is about how design, more precisely advertisement, is used to influence people and how that can be harmful in certain situations. By using newspaper styling I am able to create hierarchy and layout to show how the eye is drawn to certain elements.

I was inspired by the size and simplicity of an old fashioned newspaper. The aim was to have blank imagery with powerful text but people only want certain elements of the newspaper as if they cut out and stick their memorable elements in a scrapbook.
